Not more than a month ago CUGNet was completely reloaded to better support it’s users. The new setup uses KVM (Kernel Virtual Machine, not Keyboard Video Mouse) with LVM for disk. As a result of that I have had to completely rebuild the virtual server that serves ChiGeek. While this in itself isn’t much to talk about, I thought I would redesign ChiGeek as well while I was at it, as the site itself was suffering from a serious lack of updates. I have switched to using RapidWeaver to power the site as it doesn’t require MySQL to update the site and allows me to perform a lot more offline updates. Yes, there are some downsides attributed to using a desktop client to drive a site, however with my current commuting lifestyle this change seems to make the most sense. I am still working on getting all of the older posts backdated and inputted into the site, however for the meantime this will have to work.
